Group of companies “GORKA” announces a competition for students of higher educational institutions studying in the third year and older (*Russia and countries of the customs union). Requirements for competitive projects: Object modeling in software packages: Tekla 2021, Allplan 2021, Revit 2021+ Sofistik Bridge and Infrastructure Modeler. Student Awards (formerly BIM Project) is an open architectural and construction competition for student projects made using BIM technology. This competition is somewhat different from the usual architectural competition: students need not only to create high-quality architecture and graphic presentation, but also to show their skills in BIM. At the same time, there is no specific task in the competition, but there are nominations that coincide with the topics of students’ course and diploma projects. Therefore, all that needs to be done within the framework of this competition is to make your educational project in BIM well and with high quality.

4. Competition for young architects and urbanists – “Ecosystem of the City”

“Ecosystem of the City” is the first all-Russian platform for the development of territories that works with tasks of federal significance.

6. International architectural competition Steel2Real’22

World construction championship

Our employee, as part of the team of the SPbPU Engineering and Construction Institute, took third place in the nomination “Information Modeling and Design” at the International Construction Championship World Construction Championship in Sochi.

The Ministry of Construction of Russia and the State Corporation Rosatom are holding these unique competitions to increase labor productivity in the industrial construction sector. The competitive part of the championship was held on the territory of the Park of Science and Art “Sirius” in 19 engineering and working categories, united in three areas: “Industrial construction”, “Construction project management” and “Design of industrial facilities”.

About 500 representatives of the construction complex from Russia, Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Belarus fought for the status of the strongest. Rosatom, RusHydro, Sibur Holding, Titan-2 holding, Russian Railways, AK ESKM Corporation, Pipe Metallurgical Company, RN-StroyControl, VNII Galurgy, Belstroycenter Holding, Petrojet, IT Engineering, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Russian University of Transport, Orgenergostroy Institute, Tatelektromontazh.

The Polytechnic University team included students of the Civil Engineering Institute: Pavel Kondrashev, Nikita Pozdnyshev, Timofey Volkov, Vladimir Tur, Nikita Glebov, Mikhail Yakovlev and Leonid Yurchenko, who competed on a par with experienced bim-designers of large corporations. The guys successfully completed a digital construction organization project for Rosatom State Corporation and won a prize fund of 700 thousand rubles.

Engineers VS COVID-19

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), the NTI Competence Center of SPbPU “New Production Technologies” and the Foundation for Support of Innovations and Youth Initiatives of St. Petersburg sum up the results of the online competition “Engineers against COVID-19”.

The participants of the competition conducted research related to the preparation of educational institutions for work in conditions of a high risk of the spread of a new coronavirus infection. The partners of the event were Autodesk and The AnyLogic Company. The competition was held with the support of the Government of St. Petersburg.

Among the tasks of the organizers of the competition is to provide students and professionals with the opportunity to contribute to the fight against the spread of coronavirus, as well as the formation of new standards and rules that provide a safe environment for work and study.

“Petersburg Polytechnic University consistently supports and organizes projects that provide students of St. Petersburg with the opportunity for professional development, acquiring new skills, and, most importantly, active participation in the life of the city, ensuring its well-being and development. Among such projects is “Engineers against COVID-19”, which is distinguished by the fact that the participants not only gained invaluable professional experience, but also contributed to solving the common task for the city and the whole world to counteract the spread of coronavirus infection,” says Vice-Rector for promising projects of SPbPU, head of the Competence Center of the NTI SPbPU “New Production Technologies” Alexey BOROVKOV.

The competition was held remotely in four areas:

  • design and modeling, in teams (16 teams registered)
  • design and modeling, individually (18 participants registered)
  • industrial design (33 participants registered)
  • research (17 applications submitted)

In total, 102 participants aged 19 to 65 from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Izhevsk, Ivanovo, Novosibirsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kovrov and Balakhna registered to participate in the competition.

At the first stage of the team competition in the “Design and Modeling” direction, the participants had to develop a BIM model of a school or a SPbPU research building in the Autodesk Revit system.

In the second stage, participants used CFD modeling in the Autodesk CFD system to re-arrange the classroom or office space to reduce the risk of infection spreading among students, students and employees.

In the final part of the competition, it was necessary to simulate the movement of people in various scenarios using the AnyLogic simulation system and propose solutions to improve the level of security. The participants offered their solutions based on the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor, WHO and the results of their own research.

The first place was taken by the team of Irina ZOTOVA, Alexander VORONIN and Yaroslav MALYSHEV. Their work positively highlights a systematic approach to finding solutions that would help protect students and educational institutions.

Second place went to the team of Leonid Yurchenko, Pavel Kondrashov, Nikita Pozdnyshev and Timofey Volkov; the third place was given to the team of Victoria FOMICHEVA, Olga SHEVCHUK and Fuad BABAYEV.

The most interesting results achieved by the participants help to significantly reduce the risks of the spread of the virus in educational institutions. For example, based on air flow modeling, one of the teams made a whole range of proposals for reconfiguring the classroom. Participants considered rearranging tables, making changes to ventilation, as well as installing protective screens. The effectiveness of all the proposed measures was verified by calculation, which allows us to recommend the proposed solutions for further implementation.
